Poor administration responsible for lack of medals: Arvind Kejriwal

Poor sports administration is the key reason for the failure of Indian athletes to win medals at international sporting events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said here on Monday.

Kejriwal met a delegation of sports administrators from Goa here.

"Kejriwal pointed to the pathetic state of sports administration in the country as the main reason for India's failure to perform at international events, and promised to remove corruption and red-tape to improve the situation," a statement by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said.

Kejriwal met the delegation of sports administrators from the field of basketball, chess, cricket, table tennis football, at a party volunteer's home in Taleigao, located near the state capital.

 

The delegation has requested the AAP to come up with a multi-tier sports policy aimed at having appropriate focus on various levels of sports, such as general public, serious enthusiasts and professional athletes performing at the national, international levels.
