The two-hour load shedding will be back in Chennai after a gap of a few months. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has announced its plan to implement a two-hour load shedding in the capital from December 2 due to a shortfall in power supply.

While the power cut is for two hours in Chennai, the rest of the state has already been suffering from severe power outage for almost six to seven hours, according to industry sources from these districts.

The load shedding is back to Chennai after a period of almost four months. According to an official from TNEB, the state has a power deficit around 2,000 MW.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa said the sudden and unanticipated drop of about 2,500-Mw can be directly attributed to the central government agencies including central generating stations and PSUs including NTPC, BHEL, IOCL and CIL.

Jaya for rollback of diesel price hike
Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has opposed the 50 paise hike in diesel prices by oil marketing companies. Stating the hike as anti-poor, she demanded an immediate roll back of the hike. "The price hike of diesel would lead to an increase in the prices of commodities. Travel fares in private buses including services to offices, schools would increase," she said.
