Pran's final journey begins

A flower-decked ambulance carrying 93-year-old actor's body left private hospital in suburban Bandra for Shivaji Park

The final journey of legendary Bollywood actor Pran began this morning from Lilavati hospital, where he breathed his last last night.

A flower-decked ambulance carrying the 93-year-old actor's body left the private hospital in suburban Bandra for Shivaji Park in Central Mumbai, where the last rites will take place.

"His body will not be taken home. We will directly go to Shivaji Park crematorium," his daughter Pinky told PTI.

No prominent Bollywood personalities were spotted near the hospital, where a large contingent of mediapersons was present.

The last rites of the Dadasaheb Phalke awardee will be performed at noon.

The veteran actor, whose real name is Pran Krishan Sikand, appeared in over 400 films between 1940s and 1990s and played both positive and negative roles with equal passion.
 
He is known for for performances in films like 'Khandaan', 'Madhumati', 'Milan', 'Aurat', 'Bari Behen', 'Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai', 'Half Ticket', 'Upkar', 'Purab Aur Paschim', 'Don', 'Zanjeer' and 'Amar, Akbar, Anthony'.
