Mumbai teenager Pranav Dhanawade smashed a humongous 1009 runs off 323 deliveries to write himself into cricketing history, becoming the first batsman ever to notch up a four-figure score.

Dhanawade’s unprecedented innings set Twitter abuzz, with adulation pouring in from all corners.

Wisden India celebrated Dhanawade’s feat and tweeted that he had become the highest scoring individual with his 652 not out on the first day that he took the crease.

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar also congratulated Dhanawade. Tendulkar told the budding cricketer that he needed to scale new peaks and advised him to work hard.

Former English cricketer Alan Wilkins pitched in and described Dhanawade's score as “mind numbing” in his tweet.

Of course, the impressive score also brought some humour to twitter. Rahul Raj tweeted, “Congrats for 1000 runs Pranav Dhanawade. Last time when I heard a Mumbaikar having so many 0s, it was Ajit Agarkar playing in Australia.”

Another user, who goes by the “Gabbar” handle, tweeted, “In his tribute to Arvind Kejriwal scored an odd number of runs (1009) in odd number of balls (323) on an odd day (5th Jan).”

Abhijeet tweeted a meme celebrating Dhanawade’s accomplishment.
