President Pranab Mukherjee greets Putin on 'Day of Russia'

He said India deeply values its special and privileged strategic partnership with Russia

President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday greeted his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the eve of the 'Day of Russia' as he expressed hope that ties between the two countries will grow from "strength to strength" in the future.

In his message to Putin, Mukherjee said India deeply values its special and privileged strategic partnership with Russia.

"The friendship between our two nations has stood the test of time. I share your confidence that our bilateral relations will grow from strength to strength in the years to come," he said.

The President extended warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of Indian people, as he said he takes this opportunity to "convey, through you, my best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Russian Federation."
 
The 'Day of Russia' commemorates the adoption of the declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on June 12, 1990 and it is celebrated every year from the year 1992.
