Union Minister KJ Alphons faces flak for 'selfie' with coffin of braveheart; clarifies
After drawing flak for allegedly posting a selfie with the mortal remains of a slain CRPF soldier, Union Minister KJ Alphons alleged that some miscreants circulated his photograph on social media to reduce his reputation.
In a letter written to Kerala's Director General of Police (DGP), the Union Minister said that he was attending the last rites of Vasantha Kumar at Wynad on February 16.
"I attended the last ceremonial rites of Vasantha Kumar, who sacrificed his life for the nation, on February 16 at Wayanad. Some person had taken my photographs standing near the coffin. My media secretary had put the same on Facebook," Alphons said.
"Alleging that the photo was a selfie taken by me, some miscreants had spread false news against me on social media. The act of those miscreants reduced my reputation in the public, which is an offence punishable under the provisions of IPC," he added.

Traders have decided to boycott Chinese goods
"In the wake of China supporting Pakistan, the CAIT has decided to launch a national campaign to boycott Chinese goods,” the traders' body said.

TRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Sunday paid floral tributes to Pulwama attack martyrs at the CRPF southern sector headquarters here.
Rama Rao also handed over two cheques of Rs 25 lakhs each to G H P Raju, Inspector General of Police, CRPF, Southern sector.
While Rs 25 lakh had been donated by Rao in his personal capacity, his friends contributed Rs 25 lakh for the families of the slain jawans.

Pray for peace instead of spreading more hate, says Sania Mirza
Terming February 14, the day of the Pulwama attack when over 40 CRPF jawans were killed, as black day for India, tennis star Sania Mirza on Sunday called for praying for peace instead of spreading more hate.
Sania, who is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, said that CRPF jawans who lost their lives in Pulwama terror attack are true heroes.
In a tweet, she expressed displeasure over demands that celebrities should be all over social media to condemn a terrorist attack, saying they should not be judged on the number of posts on a tragedy.

IMG Reliance will not broadcast Pakistan Super League due to Pulwama attack
IMG Reliance Sunday pulled out from broadcasting the Pakistan Super League in protest against the Pulwama terrorist attack.
"Due to unfortunate events a couple of days back, which resulted in the death of Indian soldiers, IMG Reliance is pulling out with immediate effects, from offering broadcast production services for PSL. The incident that occured is deeply regrettable," stated a mail addressed to Sohaib Sheikh and Kamil Khan of Pakistan Cricket Board, the content of which is in possession of PTI.

Kashmiri students held on sedition charges for celebrating Pulwama attack
Four female paramedical students of Kashmiri-origin have been slapped with sedition charges after being suspended from a private institute here for allegedly celebrating the Pulwama terror attack by posting "anti-national" messages on an instant messaging app, officials said.
The second-year students of the National Institute of Medical Science (NIMS), Talveen Manzoor, Iqra, Zohra Nazir and Uzma Nazir, were suspended for posting on WhatsApp a picture in which they were purportedly seen celebrating the terrorist attack in Kashmir that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel.

Iran summons Pakistan envoy over Pulwama terror attack by JeM
Iran on Sunday summoned Pakistan's ambassador after Tehran accused Islamabad of harbouring the terror outfit responsible for the deadly terror attack on its security forces.
Iran lodged an official protest with Pakistan's envoy over the suicide attack in Sistan-Baluchestan province that claimed the lives of 27 paramilitary. Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bahram Ghasemi said he "explicitly conveyed" to Pakistani Ambassador Rafat Masoud that Tehran expected Islamabad "to make a serious and decisive action" against the Jaish al-Adl outfit operating in Pakistani.
