Speculation has been rife over Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s “willingness to accept a larger role” conundrum. Yet, if sources are to be believed, the Gandhi scion is headed for a larger role within the party organisation, rather than in the government.
He’s begun this, unobtrusively, having undertaken a big exercise in revamping the party unit in Uttar Pradesh in the run-up to the 2014 general elections, appointing zonal presidents to revitalise the party at the grassroots. He is likely to do a similar exercise in Bihar, another state where the party exists only in name.
