Rahul Gandhi’s office on Thursday came out with a full-page statement, threatening legal action against the “false, entirely baseless and defamatory” allegations made by Janata party President Subramanian Swamy. Warning Swamy that Gandhi would be “pursuing all legal remedies” against the “scandalous abuse” peddled in Swamy’s “so-called press conference”, Gandhi’s office said the contents of the conference were “utterly motivated and irresponsible”. The statement added Gandhi would ensure he took all adequate steps so that “an individual like you (Swamy) and an organisation like yours do not abuse the freedom to write and speak”.
