Restrictions imposed in Anantnag town in J&K

Restrictions were today imposed in Anantnag town in south Kashmir which has witnessed protests over the death of Udhampur petrol bomb attack victim Zahid Rasool Bhat.

Police said the restrictions were imposed to maintain law and order.

Many areas in Anantnag had yesterday observed a spontaneous shutdown to protest against the death of Zahid.

Yesterday, clashes between protesting youth and security forces were reported from Batengoo, the native village of Zahid, as also Goriwan-Bijbehara and Anantnag town and Qoimoh and Khudwani in Kulgam.

Zahid was injured on October 9 when his truck, that was en route to Kashmir from Jammu, was attacked with petrol bombs. The driver of the truck Showkat Ahmed is also admitted in the hospital.
