According to data shared by TripAdvisor's TripIndex Survey, traffic from Pakistan to host countries grew the most followed by India. Traffic to Australia from India grew by 38% and New Zealand was up by 26%. Among the host cities, traffic from India was the highest to Nelson (122%) followed by Adelaide (98%) and Brisbane (93%), said the survey.
For those who are yet to finalise their travelling plans to these destinations need to plan fast as price fluctuation is high. The TripIndex said that overall Hamilton offers the most value for India fans travelling to watch their team in action (league matches). In terms of food too Hamilton is easy on the pocket. India plays against Ireland at Hamilton on March 10th.
For those who are confident that India will reach the semi-finals and then finals, then they will have to shell out anywhere between Rs 25,000 to 50,000 for a nights stay in the respective cities.
For instance, for semi-final being played on March 24 at Auckland an individual will need to spend at least Rs 23,000 for a night's stay. This includes one night stay in a 3 or four star hotel, round trip fare by taxi, refreshments, ticket, appetizers and dinner cost for one adult person. For the semi-finals at Sydney on March 26, the cost goes up to Rs 29,763 per individual.
And hoping that India does reach the finals to be held in Melbourne on March 29, a per person stay will come at Rs 44,705. These rates are based on rates available on February 20th.
TripAdvisor also advices that families (two adults and two kids) should try and opt for rental accommodations rather than just look-up for hotels. "A two room overnight stay in a 3 star hotel (for March 19 match) will approx. be 20% more expensive than a night spent in a two room vacation rental. This is considering the price per hotel room is Rs 14,912 and vacation rental is Rs 12,452," said the survey.
The methodology of the survey included trends for traffic, hotel and restaurants arrived at basis searches on the TripAdvisor website from Indian IPs. Prices specify the average cost per-night of a room at a three or four star hotel found on TripAdvisor (via partner booking sites such as online travel agencies and direct hotel suppliers) in each destination for forthcoming matches. Average prices were taken from a minimum of three hotels in each destination. TripAdvisor is one of the world's largest travel site with 315 million unique monthly visitors and more than 200 million reviews and opinions covering more than 4.5 million accommodation, restaurants and attractions.
