RIL's sixth video against AAP allegations

BS Reporter Mumbai
Continuing its campaign against allegations by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Reliance Industries Ltd released its sixth video on YouTube on Thursday. In the video, RIL has sought views from constitution expert Subhash C Kashyap regarding the First Information Report (FIR), relating to gas contracts, filed by former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal against the Centre.

Kashyap said, "The FIR by former Delhi chief minister was completely illegal. Delhi is a centrally-administered Union Territory and the President is supposed to be administering it through the lieutenant-governor. As a concession to the political forces in Delhi and to the public opinion, a council of ministers and a legislature were conceded to Delhi. But entirely unlike a state legislature, their powers are very clearly defined and delimited by the Constitution and by the NCT Act."

Umesh Upadhyay, a former journalist, now part of RIL's corporate communication team, explained in the video two days before quitting, the then chief minister had ordered an FIR with the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Delhi, which reports to him and not to the Delhi police, under the ministry of home affairs.

"It is clear neither was he keen on fighting corruption nor willing to follow the legal process. He had an eye on the Lok Sabha elections."
