Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik displayed a stunning comeback as she ousted World Number.3 Johanna Mattsson 5-4 to progress through to the pre-quarterfinals of the Women's 58kg freestyle event at the Rio Olympics here on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old from Rohtak made a disappointing start against her Swedish opponent, going down 0-4 in the first period.
Malik, however, bounced back in style to gain the lost points and register a victory in a closely fought qualifying round.
With the win, Sakshi has now set up a clash against Mariana Cherdivara of Modova in the round of 16.
Earlier, Sakshi had replaced Geeta Phogat in the 58kg category after the veteran wrestler was handed a temporary suspension for forfeiting her bout in the previous qualifying tournament in Mongolia.
India, who have sent their largest-ever contingent of 119 athletes in Rio Olympics, are yet to open their medal account in the ongoing Summer Games.
