Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday sought a scientific solution to increase crop yield while taking into account the shrinking land and water resources.

"I have always said, per drop more crop. We must also think about - an inch of land and a bunch of crops," he said addressing scientists on the occasion of the platinum jubilee of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

The Prime Minister said the 21st century is a technology driven century and India's requirements can be met through a scientific solution.

"It is important to connect science with the common citizens in this century, which is technology driven," he said here.

Highlighting CSIR's contribution, Modi hoped that it would continue to do so.

"It is a matter of pride for every Indian that CSIR is celebrating 75th year of committed contribution to the development of modern India. You have contributed so much to India in the last 75 years and am sure you can contribute so much more in the years to come," he said.

He said the CSIR needs to create an ease of doing technology business platform.

"CSIR needs to create 'Ease of doing Technology Business' platform to bring in right stakeholders so technologies reach beneficiaries," the Prime Minister said.
