The voter awareness campaign launched by the Election Commission seems to have had the maximum impact on the Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency in Dharwad district which also happens to be Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar's constituency.

The constituency has recorded a net addition of 6.28 per cent voters as against the benchmark of 3 per cent. While there were 13,762 applications in Form 6 seeking to be added to the voters' list, the number of applications in Form 7 for deletion of names from the voter list was 1,231. The net addition to the list has been 13,762.

The steep increase in the number of applications for inclusion of names in the voter's list had forced the District Election Officer to go in for cross verification of application forms again.

The Hubli-Dharwad East has seen a net addition of 5,672 voters (3.37 per cent) while H-D West registered a net addition of 5,764 votes (2.69 per cent). Kundgol registered a net increase of 4,697 votes (2.87 per cent), Dharwad 4,345 votes(2.43 per cent), Navalgund 1,108 votes (0.61 per cent) and Kalghatagi 2,803 votes (1.70 per cent).

The district has seen an addition of 51,057 votes which is a net addition of 36,920 and the grand total to 1,308,630.
