The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recently announced the official marks for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) marks for tier 1 exam. As on November 15, 2016, candidates can check their results on commission’s official website www.ssc.nic.in.
The results have been declared only for those candidates who have secured a cut off score as per their caste categories. They are published in the form of a list and include the candidate’s name, roll number and status reflecting their eligibility to appear in SSC CGL 2016 tier II exam.
SSC CGL 2016 tier I results
The tier 1 2016 exam was conducted from August 27, 2016 to September 11, 2016. For candidates from Srinagar, the examination was held on September 25, 2016. Re-examination was conducted on October 27, 2016.
Reportedly, over 38 lakh candidates had applied but only around 36 percent of the registered candidates appeared for the computer-based CGL 2016 tier 1 exam. Out of the 14,82,000 candidates, who appeared for the test, 1,49,319 have qualified for tier II.

According to the results announced by the commission on November 8, the cut-off for general category candidates hit 137 marks. Only around 46,000 candidates are declared qualified to take tier 2 exam. The cut-off marks for OBC, SC and ST candidates are 125.50, 114 and 103 marks respectively.
SSC CGL 2016
SSC CGL 2016 is conducted for the recruitment of approximately 8418 posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organisations like Central Secretariat Service, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Railway, Ministry of External Affairs, National Investigation Agency (NIA), Central Bureau of Investigation, etc.
Scheme of the SSC CGL 2016 examination
The examination is being conducted in four tiers:
Tier 1 – Computer based
Tier 2 – Computer based
Tier 3 – Pen and paper mode
Tier 4 – Data entry skill test (DEST) / Computer proficiency test (CPT) (wherever applicable)
The marks of tier 1 exam will be taken into consideration for preparation of final merit list. CGL tier 2 exam would be taken as an online test, while tier 3 exam will be pen-paper based computer proficiency test/ skill test (wherever applicable). For the tier 3 exam, the commission has introduced a descriptive paper of English/Hindi. The question paper will be bilingual. The candidates will have the option to choose any one medium.
The final merit will be prepared on overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off. Document verification will also be conducted as per the provisions of the exam notice.
This year, the interview component has been dispensed with. Therefore, there will be no interview.
SSC CGL tier 2 exam
The CGL tier 2 exam is scheduled to be held from November 30 to December 2. An objective type, multiple-choice questions examination, the scheme of CGL 2016 – tier 2:

All the papers are for 200 marks each. Paper-I and II are compulsory for all the categories of posts. Paper III is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Statistical Investigator Group II and Compiler. Paper IV is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Assistant Audit Officer.
Candidates opting for the post of compiler and/or statistical investigator group II and assistant audit officer must ensure that they possess the requisite qualification.
Tier 3 and 4
The SSC CGL 2016 result for Tier II will be declared in December. The marks obtained by the candidates in Tier I and II will be added to determine their eligibility for the next rounds i.e. SSC CGL 2016 Tier III and IV.
