State on high alert as Cyclone Hudhud covers Eastern MP

During last twenty four hours, Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur and Shahdol districts have received heavy rains in some parts

Cyclone Hudhud that already has left a trail ofdevastation in Southern part of the country has now put state authorities ontoes as it is showing its effect on Southern-Eastern Madhya Pradesh.

During thelast twenty four hours, Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur and Shahdol districts have received heavy rains in some parts. Local meteorological department has sounded awarning of heavy to very heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh.

It has renderedrestless working hours for state authorities who have planned to shift peopleliving in low-lying areas in camps.

"Jabalpur, Shahdol and Hoshangabad divisions of thestate may receive heavy to very heavy rains during the next two days while Rewaand Sagar divisions may receive rains of similar intensity during afternoon ofthe coming Wednesday and to Thursday morning," a local meteorological department officer told BS.
 
Rewa, Shahdol and Jabalpur have already receivedrains during the last 24 hours. Shahdol,Hoshangabad, Sagar and Rewa and Jabalpur divisions have received heavy rains atmany places while Indore and Bhopal divisions have received rains at isolatedareas.

Bhopal and Indore towns will also receive rains or scattered thunderstorms,said the local weathermen. On the state government part, leaves of officials inSatna and Jabalpur divisions have been cancelled for another three days.

"State revenue department has asked districtcollectors to put their respective divisions, where heavy to very heavy rainsare expected, on high alert to avoid any human or property damage. Those whoare living near rivers or low-lying areas are being shifted to camps to avoidcasualties," a government spokesperson said.

According to weathermen Hudhud hasnow centred at south Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh; Rewa,Shahdol, Jabalpur and Satna districts. It would move north-northwestwards andweaken gradually.

With heavy rain and winds of almost 200 kilometerper hour, Cyclone Hudhud pounded the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Sunday leaving eight people dead and a trail of devastation with Vishakapatnam.
