The teachers are also in a dilemma as they are unsure of the syllabus they have to teach

Aspiring Delhi University students are facing the heat of the UGC's wish to scrap off the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). The students are facing trouble as many colleges have delayed the admission process.

Nehal Bhatt wishes to get admission in the DU B.Tech course which was introduced along with the FYUP last year. Now, with the news that the FYUP may be scraped off she is unsure if B.Tech in DU will continue or not. It is also too late for her now to apply in mainstream B.Tech colleges.

Many other students like Nehal don't know for how long they may have to wait. As the admission process is lengthy and tiring, they want to get over with it as soon as possible.

The repercussions of scraping off FYUP will also be hazardous for the students who are currently studying under the programme. Aarzoo Gupta, a B.tech student in Maharaja Agrasen College, told ANI, "What our seniors did in three years, we would be doing it in two years as our one year has been wasted."

The teachers are also in a dilemma as they are unsure of the syllabus they have to teach.

Jyotishmaan Kalita, Assistant Professor in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College said, "The students cannot do anything but wait for the authority to make up their minds. Till then the students will have to wait. The condition is worse for the students studying under FYUP now."

Various procedures will probably be reinstated if the three year graduation course is implemented again. English Honours aspirants previously had to crack the CATE exam to get admission which was done away with when the FYUP was implemented.

The students who are wishing to get into the course are now are at their wits end as they might have to start studying for CATE now.

Outstation students who are DU aspirants are also tormented as they are unsure if whether to stay back in Delhi and wait for the admission procedure to start or go back home.

Kaustav Borthakur, who is an Economics Honours aspirant, told ANI, "I am staying in a hotel with my parents for the past three days. The expenses are increasing and we're still unsure of the admission. I just want to get it over with now".
