Sushma Swaraj meets UN General Assembly President

Peter Thomson also held a meeting with Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Arvind Panagariya

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday met President-elect of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly Peter Thomson.

"Working together for important session of the UNGA. EAM @SushmaSwaraj meets UNGA President-elect Peter Thomson," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted along with a picture of the two leaders

Thomson, who is from Fiji, was elected in June.

He is visiting India a fortnight ahead of the UNGA annual session in New York.

Earlier on Monday, Thomson also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

"Advancing India's multilateral agenda. PM @narendramodi receives President Elect of the UNGA, Peter Thomson," Swarup said in a separate tweet.

 

The UNGA President-elect also held a meeting with Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Arvind Panagariya in the afternoon.
