The Tamil Nadu government has decided to contribute Rs 5-crore from the chief minister's public relief fund to the flood-ravaged Uttarakhand and added it is ready to render any other assistance as may be required by the Uttarakhand government.
In a statement, chief minister J Jayalalithaa said, "the first batch of rescued 83 pilgrims had arrived in Chennai on June 21, and they were received by senior ministers and officers of the Tamil Nadu government."
Thereafter,arrangements were made to transport them to their respective destinations in various districts.

As on June 22, 275 pilgrims were brought to Chennai by the state and similar facilities have been extended to all of them.
The state government will ensure these facilities were extended to all the pilgrims belonging to Tamil Nadu returning from the disaster zone in Uttarakhand, she said in the statement.
