Twitter to show 'Promoted Accounts' in search results

This would help Twitter monetise user searches

ANI Washington

Twitter has reportedly announced that it would now show 'Promoted Accounts' in its search results.

Promoted Accounts refer to those accounts that businesses pay to advertise to users, versus a Promoted Tweet or a Promoted Trend.

According to Tech Crunch, the latest addition wouldn't be a drastic change as Promoted Tweets already showed up in search.

However, this would help Twitter monetise user searches, because post the IPO, each view is becoming more valuable for the company.

Twitter said that it would automatically select relevant search queries for presenting Promoted Accounts based on an advertiser's targeting choices, so no additional action is required for a business to access this capability, the report added.
