Many of the powerful people in India have successfully proved their susceptibility to the much controversial foot in mouth disease over the years. Joining that list, most recently, is the CBI Director, Ranjit Sinha, who has drawn criticism for his insentive and ludicrous analogy on rape and betting.
In his attempt to make a case for legalising betting on Tuesday, he drew an analogy with rape. “Like some people say, if you cannot prevent rape, you might as well enjoy it,” Sinha quipped before a large gathering in the Capital.
Ever since the media has pulled him up for his insensitivity, Twitterati from all over the nation have risen in criticism. Here are some of the reactions:

The CBI director asks women to enjoy rape. Even a hardcore misogynist culprit would think twice before saying it.

We have finally found India's answer to George Bush #RanjitSinha
The overwhelming outrage forced Sinha to issue a clarification of his statement. According to media reports, he said, "Statement was made in context to voice vote taken by Shekhar Gupta, editor of Indian Express on legalising betting in sports. I gave my opinion that betting should be legalised and that if law can't be enforced that doesn't mean that law can't be made. It is as erroneous as if rape is inevitable one should lie back and enjoy it."
His words however, as insensitive as his comment, have not managed to calm the stir or the outrage of critical comments.
