Two cops injured in gunbattle with terror suspects in AP

The terror suspects are believed to have been involved in recent murders of BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders in Tamil Nadu

Two policemen from Tamil Nadu were today injured in firing by suspected terrorists, believed to be involved in the recent murders of BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, in Puthur town of Chittoor district.

A constable and an inspector were injured in the firing on the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, police said.

The terror suspects, believed to have been involved in recent murders of BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders in Tamil Nadu, fired at the policemen from a house where they are hiding, police said.

Teams of OCTOPUS (Organisation To Counter Terrorist Operations) force (AP's anti-terror organisation) have been rushed to the spot to assist the police (of AP and TN) there, they said.
 
"Special forces have been rushed to the spot to assist the local police team flush out the suspected terrorists who are hiding in the house," a police official told PTI, adding that the entire area has been cordoned off.

Chitoor SP Kranti Rana Tata and other senior officials are monitoring the situation on the spot.

Tamil Nadu Police, probing the murder of senior state unit BJP functionary Auditor Ramesh and Hindu Munnani leader Vellaiyappan, has stepped up efforts to trace four suspects in the cases and printed one lakh posters announcing a Rs five lakh cash prize each for information on them.

The four suspects are - 'Police' Fakruddin, Bilal Malik, Panna Ismail, and Abu Backer Siddique, also wanted in connection with the planting of a pipe bomb on the yatra route of BJP leader L K Advani near Tirumangalam in Madurai District.
