The two Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled to happen in Chennai have been moved to Ranchi in Jharkhand.

The governing council of Pepsi IPL 2014 has informed the non-availability of Chennai venue for the two matches to be played by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which are scheduled on May 18 and May 22.

The council, which met at the Cricket Centre, Mumbai, also decided to move the May 14 match involving Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians from the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata to Barabati stadium in Cuttack in Odisha.

The India Cements-owned Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been utilising Ranchi as the alternate venue for this edition of IPL, and will continue to do so for the rest of the season.

Considering that twenty matches of the ongoing IPL were organised overseas, the council decided to take the playoff games to as many different stadia as possible, according to an IPL statement.
