Accusing it of taking "anti-people" decisions, the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) on Monday withdrew support from the Vijay Bahuguna government in the state and termed its one-year tenure "terribly disappointing."

The party had been at the odds with the government over a number of matters, including the domicile issue and making of Gairsain permanent state capital

The decision, however, will not affect the health of the ruling coalition, which still has 40 MLAs in the 70-member House.

"We've withdrawn support as the government's one-year tenure has been terribly disappointing during," UKD President Trivendra Singh Panwar said here.

Handing over a letter to this effect to Governor Aziz Qureshi, Panwar alleged that the government was being "insensitive" to the interests of the people of the state. "The government has cheated people on the issue of both Gairsain and domicile. SIDCUL land scam reflects the level of corruption in the state. Now out of the government, we will go with these issues to the people's court," he said.

When told that party's lone MLA Pritam Singh Panwar was still with the government, the UKD chief said he had already been suspended from the party for anti-party activities.
