The Uttar Pradesh government will launch its own employment portal replicating popular job website naukri.com for the 7.2 million unemployed youth in the state.

State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Alok Ranjan has directed the labour department officials to develop the web portal on the lines of naukri.com.

He said the portal would facilitate connection between the employers and the unemployed at the click of the mouse. Ranjan issued the directives while reviewing implementation of the department's budgetary allocation.

The portal would offer the facility of registration of the unemployed youth, while the employers sitting anywhere in India can also get themselves registered.

Ranjan noted the state was already helping the unemployed youth by providing them with unemployment allowance, training and career counseling.

The job portal would be another major step in this direction, he added.

Meanwhile, the labour department has been directed to achieve the target of holding 375 employments 'melas' in this fiscal, of which 85 'melas' have already been organised.

State labour Principal Secretary Shailesh Krishna said over 1.2 million unemployed youth had been provided with unemployment allowance. The rehabilitation of bonded labour was on fast track and Rs 90 lakh been released.
