Days after NCP chief Sharad Pawar asked his party workers to be ready if mid-term polls came, senior Congress leader Narayan Rane has ruled out any such possibility.

"Indian National Congress is an 126-year-old party. The Congress-led government at the Centre and in Maharashtra will complete their five-year terms," the Maharashtra Industries Minister said without naming Pawar. He was speaking last night after paying obeisance at Sai Baba shrine.

Addressing the 5th National Convention of his party at Vadodara on October 11, Pawar had said that his party was ready for snap polls, though he ruled out any threat to stability of UPA government. On former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, Rane said, "As he is strengthening NCP, the Congress is also building up its organisation." Rane said BJP was levelling baseless allegations against Congress leaders.
