Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has asked industry to support and participate in the rebuilding of Uttarakhand and set up new units in the state.
Bahuguna said the government would develop new tourist places in the state and build 50 helidromes for better connectivity.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Public Health Department (PHD) Chamber, the chief minister assured industry that the government would make all efforts for rebuilding the infrastructure with all the modern technologies. "We will not do any patch work, but make sure that a permanent infrastructure is built with the modern technology," he said.
He said the government would provide proper storage facilities to farmers to store their agricultural produce. Farmers should also get better prices in return, he said.
The chief minister emphasised that more and more warehouses and silos should be constructed across the state so that wastage could be reduced.
He stressed that Negotiable Warehouse Receipt System should be promoted in the state so that farmers could be benefited and protected from the distress sale. "We need to bring the modern technology and the best of knowledge to Uttarakhand, since the state has incurred a huge loss in terms of logistics, tourism and infrastructure, which need to be taken care of," he said.
The chief minister insisted on working on globally-attested parameters. He further elaborated that approximately 90 per cent of the compensation had already been made. He emphasised that the focus must not be limited to the few famous places, but there is a need to work for the whole state. He also called for a systematic and sustainable development of Uttrakhand.
Saurabh Sanyal, executive director, PHD Chamber said an in-depth analysis should be done to examine the causes behind this natural calamity, so that losses could be minimised and the best preventive and corrective measures could be taken in future.
He also urged for a coordinated approach between the government and industry for rebuilding infrastructure in the state. More and more public private partnership models should be adopted to speed up the things, he added.
Ashish Mohan Wig, chairman, Roads, Ports and Other Infrastructure Committee, PHD Chamber, said the disaster had given an opportunity to rebuild Uttarakhand with good standards and modern technology. He assured that the industry was fuilly supportive of the government in the rebuilding process.
