Karnataka primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri today said there was no need to panic and declare holidays for schools following the swine flu threat.

He told reporters here that his department was coo-rdinating with the Health Department on the precautions being taken in schools.

“There is a sense of fear among the schools and parents. This is more than what’s required”, he said, adding, the department had issued circulars to schools on the steps and precautions to be taken in the wake of the H1NI influenza.

Kageri said schools which reported flu symptoms can declare holidays using their discretion.
