Congress' K Sudhkaran, who humbled his CPI-M rival K K Ragesh in Kannur Lok Sabha constituency, today said his victory was due to the 'disenchanment the CPI-M cadres had with the party leadership.

"My win should be seen as a clear reply to CPI-M leadership's inflexible approach on various issues", Sudhakaran, sitting MLA, told reporters here while reacting to his victory in the traditionally CPI-M stronghold.

Sudhakaran who won with a margin over 43,000 votes, said most of the "disgruntled CPI-M cadres had voted for him to vent their anger and express disappointment in the CPI-M leadership style of functioning as Kannur is traditionally considered to be a Left stronghold".

The inclusion of CPI-M dominated Taliparamba assembly segment and exclusion of North Wayanad segment did not help the CPI-M this time, Sudhakaran said.
