In the event of the mid-term elections to the Karnataka Assembly to be held on the basis of recommendations of the Delimitation Commission, the Congress is likely to benefit, former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh said here on Wednesday.

"There is a view that if the elections are held as per the fresh delimitation of constituencies, the Congress will stand to gain," he told reporters.

He opined that if elections were held as per the recommendations, the number of seats reserved for SCs and STs would go up and this might help the Congress. "The party high command would soon take up restructuring of the KPCC," he said.

Meanwhile, KPCC President M Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader and former deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah left for Delhi for consultations with the party high command on restructuring of the state Pradesh Congress Committee.
