'Govt deploying more manpower, machinery to complete CWG work'

The government has deployed additional manpower and machinery to ensure completion of construction work at the Commonwealth Games venues, Minister of State of Sports Pratik Prakashbapu Patil said today.

Patil said in view of rain disrupting the Games' related work, additional labour and machinery have been pressed into service.

"17 competition venues out of total 18 have been completed and the remaining one venue is in an advanced stage of completion. There have been some instances of delay for which recovery schedules were prepared and implemented These projects will be completed well in time for the Games," he said while answering questions in the Rajya Sabha.

 

"Recovery plans were worked out and operationalised whenever required. These inter-alia included increase in number of supervisory staff and labour, increase in working hours, deployment of additional machineries, close monitoring and procurement of critical and special items to complete the work within the recovery schedules," he added.

"To offset the effect of rain, additional manpower and machinery has been deployed wherever necessary," the minister said.
