'Hamara' Bajaj owns no four-wheeler

The country's largest manufacturer of two and three wheelers, and independent candidate for Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra, Rahul Bajaj, doesn't own a four-wheeler.

Bajaj, whose Rajya Sabha candidature is backed by the Nationalist Congress Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena, filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by the untimely demise of Pramod Mahajan, on Monday.

Bajaj, who holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University, has declared moveable and immovable assets of Rs 271.28 crore. His wife Ruprani owns assets worth Rs 92.21 crore.

Besides, he owns a 50 per cent share in Kamalnayan Bajaj Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) firm, whose total worth has been pegged at Rs 30.10 crore, and 25 per cent share in Rahul Bajaj HUF, whose total worth is pegged at Rs 26.16 crore.

Bajaj has Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and his wife has cash of Rs 3 lakh in hand. Besides this, the Bajaj couple has bank deposits of Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 5.2 lakh respectively.

Rahul Bajaj also owns jewellery worth Rs 7.11 lakh with 3.34 carat diamonds and other precious stones and 31 kg gold jewellery. His wife Ruprani has 125.39 carat diamonds and 1.6 kg of gold jewellery.

He has shares, debentures and bonds worth Rs 265.58 crore, while his wife owns shares, bonds and debentures worth Rs 89.62 crore.

Bajaj, who doesn't own agriculture land, has a 25 per cent direct share in 2,880 sq ft apartment at NCPA in Mumbai worth Rs 2.16 crore. Bajaj also owns Rs 1.29 crore worth row house near the Prithvi theatre area in Mumbai.
