The BJP today admitted that its "India Shining" slogan used in the run-up to 2004 Lok Sabha elections was a "mistake".

"India Shining slogan was a mistake. The better slogan would have been India Rising," LK Advani, who was Deputy Prime Minister during the NDA rule when the slogan was coined, told reporters here.

The BJP led NDA government had undertaken an aggressive "India Shining" campaign before the last Lok Sabha polls before being voted out of power.
