'Lack of clarity in law hits realty'

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI)–Odisha chapter has sought the clarity over jurisdiction of the government authorities which is affecting the investors sentiment in the realty sector as they have to run pillar to post for getting their projects approved.

“Government has to come clear on the rural-urban areas . Lack of clarity over the jurisdiction is seriously affecting the real estate sector,” said DS Tripathy, CREDAI-Odisha. The Odisha High Court in March, 2012 had confined the BDA’s jurisdiction only to the urban areas of the city, on which the government has obtained a stay from the Supreme Court.

For the proper urban development, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) should take into its fold the areas which BDA is developing and both these institutions should set up a single window mechanism for granting required approvals, Tripathy said.

Tripathy announced that CREDAI-Odisha will organise a property expo from January 19-21.
