On the backfoot over CBI withdrawing the Red Corner Notice against Bofors case accused Ottavio Quattrocchi, Congress today accused the non-Congress governments, including the BJP-led NDA, of not doing anything to prosecute the case successfully.
“Out of the last 22 years, 10 years were under non-Congress governments. Why didn’t they catch Quattrocchi and hang him from the nearest tree ?,” party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
Singhvi, a senior advocate, said the then NDA government should be asked why it did not file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the quashing of the High Court order on the Bofors issue in 2004.
