A government-appointed task force today said that there are no “loopholes” in the quality of materials used and construction of Bangalore Metro, and has assured that Delhi-type mishaps would not occur here.
“We have reviewed the design and construction of work. There are no loopholes in the quality of materials and construction,” chairman of the Task Force on quality assurance in public constructions C S Vishwanath told reporters here.
After a ‘minor’ mishap at Metro site here on August 3, which left two workers injured, Government had asked the Task Force to look into safety issues concerning the project. Vishwanath said the task force had a meeting with those executing the Bangalore Metro project and they assured that Delhi-type mishaps would not occur here.
He also said the Bangalore Metro has expressed seriousness to undertake strict measures in form of coming out with safety manuals and tightening working conditions with respect to safety aspects.
Vishwanath said the August 3 Metro mishap here was a result of negligence on part of the contractors.
He said the Bangalore Metro project is running behind schedule by five to six months, but it can “pick up” momentum.
