The backlash in the US on the issue of outsourcing work to India will taper off as the US companies are looking for value and it's hard to ignore the value addition that offshoring and outsourcing work to India can bring, according to R Ramalinga Raju, chairman of Satyam Computers. |
India needed to project an image of a country that was not snatching jobs away but was creating value as well as it can be created, he said. |
Addressing a media conference, after inaugurating the new product development centre of Euclid Inc, Ramalinga Raju said that outsourcing to India was driven by investors and customers who want to shift work to a more efficient place for both quality and cost reasons. |
"We have 95 Fortune 500 corporations as our customers. These companies sell to a global market. They understand value and the importance of how business in the global market place is conducted and how anti-outsourcing efforts go against this," he said. |
Raju pointed out that Indian companies had become global in their operations and competition had become global also. The learning associated with the Indian software industry's march to being globally recognised, Raju said. |
"We, at Satyam, never expected to come so far. So fast has been the pace of change that we have been learning new things every day. Companies that have been able to match the change are the one's that have been successful,"he said. |
Pointing out that the opportunity in the services business was ever increasing, Raju said, "Sixty-six per cent of the world GDP of $31 trillion is services and there is a good chance that it may touch 80 per cent in the years to come. These services can be delivered out of a remote environment and there is tremendous opportunity for us here." |
