'Radiation for Peace' meet

Around 200 nuclear physicians from India and abroad, gathered here for a four-day-long conference that began here on Wednesday. They will deliberate on the theme "Radiation for Peace".
 
The physicians, who participating in the 36th annual conference of the Society of Nuclear Medicine-India (SNC-I), will also dispel the myth about atomic energy. Participants are from Australia, Germany, USA, Turkey, China, UAE, Bangladesh and Austria, besides India.
 
The SNC-I conference is being held for the first time in Mysore, according to organising committee vice-president and JSS Medical College principal Dr S B Vasanthakumar.
 
Highlighting the agenda for the conference, organising secretary Lt Col Y N I Anand, who is the vice-dean of the Asian School of Nuclear Medicine, headquartered in Singapore, said the convention had a continuing medical education programme on Wednesday wherein eminent nuclear physicians from India and abroad spoke on topics useful to non-nuclear medicine clinicians.
 
Three orations in honour of scientists, Homi Jahangir Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai and Brigadier Mazumdar is on the agenda.
 
Apart from 12 invited lectures by eminent nuclear physicians and scientists, original papers will be presented at the conference, highlighting the latest trends in the field of nuclear medicine the world over.
