A bitter Jagdish Tytler, who was pulled out of the Lok Sabha election race by his party, today accused rivals within the Delhi Congress of scuttling his candidature.
Tytler, a four-time MP who does not share best of relations with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, however, did not want to name anybody specifically when asked if he was hinting at her. “How can I speak the names,” Tytler said when asked if he could identify the persons. “It is politically motivated. It is the Akalis and the BJP’s campaign against me. Somebody in my party may be part of it ...somebody who does not like me played a trick. They painted me as a bad man,” he told PTI in an interview. Asked whether he thought Dikshit would be happy with the developments, he said, “You should ask her.” Dikshit had earlier said the “negative impact” on poll prospects of the Congress in Punjab and Delhi would “no longer be there” following the withdrawal of the candidature.
