"Well, at the moment, we are satisfied that inflation slightly came down. It is a matter of some satisfaction that it has moderated to some extent. I am confident that various measures the government has taken and the good crop, that we expect, should give us some good results," Minister of State for Finance P K Bansal told reporters here.
Inflation broke its nine-week long upsurge to decline marginally by 0.02 per cent to 11.89 per cent during the week ended July 12 as prices of food items like potato, maize, sea fish, tea and imported edible oils fell.
Inflation has been in the double digits after price increase in fuel items was reflected in the data for the first week of June.
The moderation in the second week of July was due to fall in prices of food items like potato, maize, sea fish, tea and imported edible oils, though other commodities like coffee, fruits and vegetables, mutton and certain pulses like urad, moong and arhar became expensive during the week.
