After doling out three relief packages to exporters in the last six months, the central government is now pushing states to dole out similar measures to cushion export losses arising out of the appreciating rupee.

Speaking on the sidelines of the annual general meeting of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath said that two options are being explored to reimburse state taxes to exporters. "We are discussing the matter with states. One option could be state governments refunding state taxes to exporters while the other could be centre reimbursing the amount and adjusting it against their state allocations," said Nath.
