100% Fdi In Tea Plantations Cleared

The Union Cabinet today permitted 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in tea plantations, around 25 years after it was banned under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (Fera).

The decision is expected to breathe a fresh life into the Rs 7,000-crore industry, which is seeking financial support for modernisation and growth. The clearance also paves the way for multinationals
