105 students conferred PGP diplomas

As many as 105 students of the Ahmedabad-based Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) were conferred with diplomas in post graduate disciplines at the sixth convocation ceremony of EDI held at Ahmedabad on Saturday.
 
Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman, Aditya Birla Group was chief guest and EDI president, M Damodaran, presided over the function.
 
Of the 105 certificates given, 42 students received the post graduate diploma in New Enterprise Creation, 33 in Family Business Management and 30 in Management of NGOs.
 
The Aditya Birla Group announced scholarships for students studying at EDI. The group will help needy students from backward areas by financing their education fees at EDI. The other corporate that has scholarships for EDI students is the Bharti group.
 
In his welcome speech, Dinesh Awasthi, director, EDI, listed out the perspectives, processes and implementation plans of the EDI. Addressing the students, he said that equipped with knowledge, they must strive for excellence and set new standards of innovative entrepreneurship.
 
In his address, M Damodaran, said that big corporates have played a major role in India's growth as an economic power. Damodaran said that the Ministry of Food Processing Industry has recently appointed EDI as the nodal agency for its programmes.
 
Priti Bhatia, who specialised in Family Business Management, bagged the Bharti Best Student of the Year award. The Bharti Entrepreneur of the Year Award was won by N C V Rangacharya of Cadsys India Ltd.
