130 accidents have taken place during 11yrs of metro const

The government today said that 130 accidents have taken place in the 11 years that the Metro has been under construction in the national capital, resulting in 102 deaths.  

Replying to a written query in the Rajya Sabha, Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, however, said the figure of 102 fatalities includes 15 deaths involving road accidents and others not accountable to construction work directly.  

A total of 94 people were injured in the 130 accidents, he said.        

In the first phase from October 1998 till December 2005, 82 accidents took place in which 55 people died and 39 people were injured.       

 

In the second phase from December 2005 till date, 48 accidents have taken place in which there have been 47 fatalities and 55 injuries.
