2 lakh Swarojgar credit cards to be issued in FY03

 Banks have to achieve the target of 40 lakh cards before the end of the tenth five-year plan, Puri said at the state level familiarisation meet on the credit cards for senior bankers, organised by Nabard.

 The meeting was inaugurated by Vani J Sharma, regional director, the Reserve Bank of India, Ahmedabad.

 Puri said availability of adequate and timely financial resources is a critical factor for the success of any venture.

 And although small borrowers are being served by a wide network of branches of various banks, credit flow to them requires to be strengthened, taking into account their needs in a cost-effective manner.
