2 more killed in fresh Orissa violence

At least two persons were killed and several others injured in Bramhanigaon under Daringbadi police station in Orissa's Kandhamal district in an exchange of fire between police and a mob of about 1,000.

The district has been engulfed by communal violence since Monday. The firing took place when the mob allegedly attacked the police station.

A senior police officer was injured in the attack. The officials, however, did not confirm this, though they admitted to the exchange of fire.

"We cannot say anything about the number of casualties as there is no information coming from there," said N Bhol, SP, Kandhamal.

Besides, at least 10 religious places and several houses belonging to the minority communities and political leaders were damaged at several places.

The residence of Congress Rajya Sabha MP RadhaKant Nayak was ransacked in Dasingbadi, police said.
