Factories shut down recently in residential areas of New Delhi are now being re-established in Himachal Pradesh.

To benefit from the excise package and surplus power in Himachal Pradesh, 28 factory owners from Delhi have applied for land in the hill state to open their units, to which the state industries department has agreed.

"The state government has already identified some 10,000 square metres of grassland on the edge of Theog town to allow 28 entrepreneurs to set up units here," said an official in the state industries department.

Theog is located on the Hindustan Tibet road, at an altitude of over 8,000 feet some 32 km from here. The area is also the gateway to the affluent apple belt of the state.

The industrial units include those providing information technology solutions, packaging and adhesive units and flour mills.

The investment involved will be around Rs 50 crore and at least 500 jobs will be generated by the setting up these 28 units.
