After repeated attempts of bail pleas, the 2G court today yet again rejected the bail plea of DMK chief Karunanidhi's daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi. The Court said that "by no stretch of imagination Kanimozhi can be said to be suffering from any discrimination on ground of being a woman".

Moreover, A Raja, Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar have been charged with receiving bribe. Special Judge OP Saini dismissed the bail pleas stating that the charges levelled against the accused are "very serious in nature, having grave implications for the economy".

The bail pleas of ex-Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura, A Raja's former Private Secretary RK Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, Kusegaon Fruits & Vegetables directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal and Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani have also been dismissed.

All accused have been in Tihar jail on charges of 2G scam levelled against them. The loss from the 2G spectrum allocation scam has been estimated by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) at Rs 1.76 lakh crore.

"The facts of the case as well as the charges levelled against the accused are of very serious nature having grave implications for the economy of the country," the court said.

"I am satisfied that no case for bail is made out for any of the applicants/accused," the court said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not argue in the court against the rejection of the bail pleas.

The 2G trial has been scheduled to begin on November 11.
