About 30 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the first three hours of voting in two Lok Sabha seats in Tripura today.

According to reports reaching here from various parts of the state, voters were seen waiting in long queues and the women outnumbered men.

Tribal women in far flung areas were seen standing in queues in colourful traditional attire and tea and snack sellers were doing a brisk business near the booths.

A tribal woman, Hemabati Debbarma said in Mandai in West Tripura that it was a joyous moment for her to vote.

"We have come to booths in group from our nearby village and the whole day we would spend here. We will not work in our fields today", she told reporters.

The state has two Lok Sabha constituencies - Tripura East and West.
