The Govindpura industrial area in the state capital , established in 1968 to cater to the needs of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) and other heavy engineering industries, is looking for a fresh lease of life. Of the 700 small-scale engineering units, 300 are sick and awaiting rehabilitation.
The number of small-scale units in the state has dwindled from 148,014 in 1989-90 to 6,338 in 2001-2002.
